Three Must Have Chemicals for Your Pool

I won't re-post all of this artcle...
"1. Chlorine tablets come in dimensions of either one inch or three inch. You put chlorine tablets in your skimmer, usually 3 - 4 tablets at a time. During the summer months, when you use your pool every day, you should change your tablets every week."
"If you intend to use two skimmers, you will need eight tablets every week. You can purchase chlorine tablets by the bucket, containing 30 - 50 tablets. They are not cheap, approximately $80 a bucket."
What does "you should change your tablets every week" mean?
they should be dissolving... so nothing to change.
Chlorine added to a pool is NOT based on how many skimmers you have!
No mention of a test kit or the need to test anywhere in this great piece of advice.
BTW... chlorine pucks or tabs in a skimmer is not a good idea, they make chlorine feeders for that. Heck even a floater is better than in the skimmer.

More misleading information about salt pools online.
I did a search on Google (blogs) to see if my blog was showing up...
it is and so is a lot more.
The first link after mine in the search results is this one.
http://www.today.com/view/saltwater-pools-an-economic-and-environmentally-friendly-option/id-2141029/
Looks like the site name is Today.com
The title of the article is:
Saltwater Pools - An Economic and Environmentally Friendly Option
(We already know that's wrong.)
They blow all their credibility in the first three lines...
"For years, chlorine pools have been the most popular type of pool to own. But these days, saltwater swimming pools are gaining in popularity for a number of reasons. They’re easy, they’re budget friendly, and they’re more environmentally safe than chlorinated pools."
ummmmm ok class once again....
the salt we put in the pool is converted to the same chlorine we always used but now we make it ourselves.
OH MY!
it gets worse!
"Saltwater swimming pools are lower in chemicals, meaning those who own them don’t have to store and handle toxic chemicals on a regular basis. This also makes saltwater pools more environmentally safe. And that absence of chlorine means there are no overwhelming odors. If you’re looking for a pool with that doesn’t require as much maintenance, look no further than saltwater. Saltwater pools virtually clean themselves and..."
Lower in what chemicals?
I think not, higher is more like it.
well they still have to store everything chemically the ever had to (and more) except chlorine... of course.
errr once again... about the "absence of chlorine" the salt does not replace chlorine... it is the chemical you now use to make your own chlorine!
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I loved finding this nonsense... it was published yesterday...
The next site on the list was not as bad...
http://optempo.com/2008/06/02/compu-pool-salt-water-chlorinator-kit-good-deal/
OpTempo
only one quote from them here:
"Apparently these units are self-contained chlorine generators so you don’t have to carry around dangerous and heavy buckets of chlorine if you use one."
ummm guess what.... 100 pounds of salt weighs just as much as 100 pounds of chlorine... you will be carrying plenty of salt to your pool... so that won't fly.
oh well...
I couldn't help it had to point it out...
